Placement in Spanish language courses is based on a combination of previous study or experience and your score on the online Spanish placement test, which is available through this page.

Taking the Placement Test
If you are taking this placement test, you are a member of the University of Richmond community and are, therefore, expected to abide by the University's Honor Code. You must take this test by yourself without the assistance of other people or reference resources, including dictionaries, grammar books, or tools like Google translate.
You may take this test only three (3) times within one year. If you need an exception to this rule, you must schedule an appointment with Dr. Michael Marsh-Soloway.
When you have completed the test, you should use the chart on page 2 of the Placement Testing in Spanish document to place yourself in a Spanish class. If your score qualifies you for a COM 2 exemption, you must complete several more steps to demonstrate COM 2 proficiency.
